Our Principal Trainer, Marife Cruz Yap, is the author of 4 English Language books in the Distinction in English series, published by Marshall Cavendish Education.
Having always been passionate about the English Language, she majored in English Language in NUS, underwent teacher training in NIE (English Language & Literature) and taught 'O' Level English Language and Literature as an MOE teacher for 7+ years before becoming an English Language Training Consultant some 24 years ago, back in April 1998.
Since then, Marife has been designing and conducting English Language courses for 'O' Level students. Through these courses, she hopes to help students see the beauty of the English Language, write better, speak more fluently and expressively and understand writers' use of language to communicate meaning,
She has conducted many of of these courses for big groups of students in various schools over the years, and since 2016, she started conducting classes for smaller groups of students at our centre, initially, face-to-face classes at Centropod@Changi, then at Maxwell House, before moving on to online classes via Zoom because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It has been her dream these past few years to conduct English Language courses for teachers, especially Beginning Teachers. This year, 2022, she launched the first of her teacher-training courses, entitled:
"How to Teach 'O' Level Summary Writing Confidently & Effectively"
She now has a second 3-hr workshop available for EL teachers:
"How to Enhance your Students' 'O' Level English Oral Communication Skills"
EL/HODs and EL Teachers who would like to organise either or both of these workshops for their colleagues in their schools or cluster schools can whatsapp Mrs Yap (97456398) to make arrangements.
